🧠 Claude 3.7 Sonnet: The AI That Actually "Thinks" Before Speaking

📸 samuraipreneur - Mystic 2.5 Flexible

"We just believe that reasoning is a core part of an AI, rather than a separate thing you have to pay for." - Dianne Penn, Anthropic

Anthropic just dropped a MASSIVE update with Claude 3.7 Sonnet, introducing something truly revolutionary: "hybrid reasoning" that lets YOU control how much time the AI spends thinking before responding.

This is a direct shot at OpenAI and DeepSeek in what industry experts are calling "AI's next big battle" - and the timing couldn't be more strategic.

Last month, Chinese AI company DeepSeek shocked everyone with models matching U.S. capabilities at dramatically lower costs, causing Nvidia's stock to drop 17% and raising serious questions about America's AI leadership.

Anthropic's response? Quality over cost-cutting.

Here's what makes Claude 3.7 Sonnet special:

  • "Hybrid reasoning" adjusts thinking depth based on the task 🧠

  • Works like humans: quick for simple questions, deep thinking for complex problems 💭

  • Comes alongside Claude Code, a command-line AI coding agent 💻

  • Positions reasoning as a core feature, not a premium add-on 💰

What's fascinating is the philosophical difference here. While competitors might offer enhanced reasoning as a premium feature, Anthropic is making it standard - an all-in-one solution that adapts to whatever you throw at it.

Do you think this approach will win over users, or will cheaper models like DeepSeek's ultimately dominate? Reply to this email with your thoughts!

👀 Grok 3 Controversy: Is Musk Censoring His "Truth-Seeking" AI?

📸 samuraipreneur - Mystic 2.5 Flexible

Well, well, well... what do we have here? Elon Musk's xAI is facing some serious heat after users discovered something fishy about Grok 3.

Remember how Musk claimed Grok was designed to be "maximally truth-seeking"? Turns out, there might be some exceptions to that rule - specifically when it comes to Musk himself and his ally, President Donald Trump.

Users on Musk's own platform X (formerly Twitter) found evidence suggesting Grok 3 has been given a "system prompt" to avoid referencing sources that mention Musk or Trump as significant spreaders of misinformation.

Check Grok’s response admitting code change here:

The irony:

  • Grok will happily help with potentially dangerous content 💣

  • But won't cite sources critical of its creator 🤐

  • This directly contradicts Musk's "truth-seeking" claims 🤥

  • Raises serious questions about AI alignment and transparency 🔍

This controversy couldn't come at a worse time for xAI, which is trying to position Grok as the more "honest" alternative to other AI models. The revelation that it might be programmed to avoid politically inconvenient truths is... well, awkward to say the least.

What do you think? Is this justified protection, or is Grok tricked by the user to eventually give what the user is looking for? Or is this hypocritical censorship? I'm genuinely curious about your take on this one!

All this aside, Grok knows how to code!! ↓

📰 Latest AI News

OpenAI Expands Deep Research Access:

OpenAI just made a power move by expanding its Deep Research capability to all ChatGPT Plus, Team, Education, and Enterprise users. Plus users get 10 queries monthly, while Pro subscribers receive a whopping 120. This specialized o3-powered feature independently examines hundreds of online sources and synthesizes comprehensive reports like a professional analyst. The timing? Strategic - right as competition with DeepSeek and Anthropic heats up. 🔥

Google Makes Gemini Code Assist Free:

Google DeepMind is shaking up the coding assistant market by releasing a free version of Gemini Code Assist with a generous 180,000 monthly code completions (that's 90x more than Cursor AI's free tier!). Powered by Gemini 2.0 and featuring a 128,000-token context window, it integrates with VS Code, JetBrains IDEs, Firebase, Android Studio, and GitHub. This launch comes just a day after Anthropic introduced Claude Code - the AI coding wars are officially on! 💻

Adobe Launches First Photoshop Mobile App:

After 38 years, Adobe has finally released a dedicated Photoshop mobile app for iPhone (Android coming later this year). The app includes essential Photoshop tools plus Firefly AI features like Generative Fill and Expand. Available in free and premium versions ($7.99/month or $69.99/year), it's free for existing Photoshop or Creative Cloud subscribers. With 90% of creative professionals using Photoshop, this mobile expansion dramatically increases access to AI-powered editing tools. 📱

Browser-Use AI Agents: The New Frontier:

A new wave of AI-powered browser agents is emerging with Convergence's Proxy and OpenAI's Operator leading the charge. These agents can autonomously navigate websites, retrieve information, and complete transactions. Industry expert Sam Witteveen suggests the killer app will be "things that take time on the web that you don't actually enjoy," like price comparison or booking optimal accommodations. When combined with tools like Deep Research, these agents could create powerful workflows that merge information gathering with action. 🌐

Alibaba's Tongyi Lab Releases Powerful Open-Source Video AI:

Alibaba's Tongyi Lab has open-sourced Wan2.1, a video generation model that tops the VBench leaderboard with 86.22%, outperforming OpenAI's Sora (84.28%) and Luma (83.61%).
