🍓 OpenAI's o1 - The end of prompt engineering?

Hi! 🥷

It’s been quite a busy week for AI. With OpenAI dropping “o1”, Apple releasing its new iPhone series and much more.

Let’s have a look.

Today we're diving into 🤿

OpenAI’s new model o1 (also known as project strawberry) 🍓

Let's go! ↓

🍓 OpenAI o1

So, let’s talk about OpenAI’s new model "o1".

What is o1? o1 is a new AI model family from OpenAI. It includes two versions:

o1-preview and o1-mini. These models are really good at thinking through tough problems, especially in coding, science and math.

10 Things You Should Know:

  1. o1 is smarter than older models like GPT-4.

  2. It's great at physics, chemistry, and biology - (outperforms PhD students)

  3. o1 is amazing at coding. It's better than 89% of people in coding contests.

  4. On a super hard math test, o1 solved 83% of the problems. The older model only solved 13%.

  5. o1-mini is a cheaper version but still really good at math and coding.

  6. Both models are safer and better at avoiding false content.

  7. Right now, o1 can only work with text, not images or videos.

  8. o1 can be slow sometimes, taking over a minute to answer.

  9. o1-preview APIs costs more than other OpenAI models.

  10. People are using o1 to make detailed plans, write papers, and even create apps quickly.

How to Talk to o1:

Talking to o1 is different from older AI models.

Here are some tips:

  1. Keep it simple: Don't give long, complicated instructions. o1 is smart enough to understand simple requests.

Example:

Old way:

"Please analyze the following text and provide a detailed summary of the main points, including any key arguments and supporting evidence."

New way: "Summarize this text."

  1. Don't use "Chain of Thought": This was a technique used with older models to help them think step-by-step. o1 doesn't need this. It can think on its own.

Example:

Old way:

"Let's approach this step-by-step. First, consider the guest list. Then, think about the venue. After that, plan the menu..."

New way: "Plan a birthday party."

Example: Refactor a React component based on some specific criteria:

Remember, o1 is new and still being tested. It might change and improve over time.

💡 Luma AI Introduces Dream Machine 1.6 with New Camera Controls

Luma AI has released Dream Machine 1.6, its latest AI video generator. The new version adds 12 camera motion options to give users more control over their AI-generated videos.

Key points:

  • Users can now choose from motions like pan, orbit, crane, and push/pull.

  • These controls aim to make AI videos more realistic and less random.

  • Early users praise the update, noting improved dynamic motion.

  • The feature competes with similar tools from other AI video companies.

  • This advance brings AI video closer to traditional filmmaking quality.

Dream Machine 1.6 is part of a trend in AI video generation. Companies are racing to offer more precise controls and higher quality results. For businesses looking at AI video tools, Dream Machine 1.6 is worth considering.

📸 Prompt

Below you can find the prompt I used for my binary strawberry 🍓

A pixelated strawberry made up of binary code, 0s and 1s, arranged in a grid format. Each pixel either represents a part of the strawberry or the matrix-like background, with glowing red matrix lines creating a futuristic digital vibe. --ar 1:1
